Deleting Mail on the Server

If you aren't used to using a mail protocol that leaves mail on the server, how to delete it can be a confusing issue. The document is meant to walk through the process for a new user.

Deleting Messages

When in IMAP mode (where it stores mail on the server), Eudora transfers deleted messages in a special trash mailbox on the server. Removing messages from the server is a two-fold process:

  1. Highlight a message and hit the delete key; it will be transfered to the trash mailbox
  2. Repeat for all messages you'd like to delete
  3. Empty the IMAP trash by going to the Special menu and clicking Empty Trash

The first time you try and delete messages from the server, Eudora will ask you to select a trash mailbox.

Without clicking anywhere else on the screen, you must go to the Mailbox menu and click on Dominant. If you don't already have a trash mailbox on the server, you can create one during this process by selecting New.
